Vandre i Schweiz
Switzerland is well known for its many hiking routes. There are possibilities for all levels, families, professional and elderly people. Here you can find two hiking tours in two different regions of the mountain area of Switzerland. All the tours we write about in the following articles are one-day-tours. Some of them you can also expand to two days. We warmly recommend doing one of them once in your life.
Panoramisk sti fra Rigi-Kaltbad til Urmiberg
Around the famous Lake Lucerne, there is a lot to see. You can visit the city of Lucerne, go on a tour on the lake with one of the big steamboats or go for a visit to the Swiss Museum of Transport. The Lake is surrounded by many mountains, so there are also various opportunities to have a fan-tastic view over the entire region. I chose the tour on top of the Rigi because there you have one of the most impressive panoramas. You can see up to four lakes at a time from above and there are some nice and cosy alpine restaurants to enjoy a break.
First, you take the train or the boat from Lucerne to Weggis. There you take the cable car to the Rigi-Kaltbad. Now your hiking tour starts and you walk for about 4 hours on top of the Rigi to the Urmiberg (see the profile of the tour below). Here you take a cable car again and you reach Brun-nen, a village by the Lake Lucerne. For the way back to Lucerne, you can take train or boat again. If you plan to do the tour in one day, do not hurry. Take your time and enjoy the beautiful view and nature. If you want to do the tour in two days, then you have even more time and you can enjoy a night in one of the hotels or mountain inns on the Rigi (Link). With nice weather, you will see a fantastic sunrise in the morning!

UNESCO region Oeschinensee
The region around the Oeschinensee is part of the UNESCO World Heritage and offers hiking routes for all levels. The following tour is only one of many and you can all modify them to your individual needs.
The tour you see on the map below is one for experienced hikers with appropriate shoes (no flip-flops or sneakers) and without fear of heights. In exchange, you have a breathtaking view on the Lake and the UNESCO World Heritage. In summer, you enjoy the huge diversity of alpine flora and fauna. Another big plus of the tour is the possibility to go for a short and refreshing swim in the Lake. So do not forget your bikini!
Your hike starts at the upper station of the cable car. The path goes uphill slightly through a little forest with several viewpoints. After 1 h 30 min, you reach the Oberbergli and from now on, the route leads you down to the lakeside, which you reach in 1 h from the Oberbergli. There you can take a swim in the lake, enjoy a nice meal in one of the restaurants, barbecue on the lakeside, rent a rowing boat and so on… The way back to Kandersteg you can walk the whole way down (com-plete walking time: 4 h) or you take the cable car again. From the lakeside to the upper station of the cable car, you walk about 30 min (complete walking time: 3 h).
