Borrowing is for free, so just dive into the library’s extensive collections of books, movies, databases, computer games etc. 

The only thing you need in order to borrow from our collections and use our databases is a library membership.

At the library you can...

  • Borrow books, films, music or audio books in a variety of languages – or stream them from your home PC, tablet or smart phone. We have materials for both children and adults
  • Read current newspapers and magazines – also available online
  • Access the Internet for free on your own pc or a library pc (you do not need to register as a library member to do this)
  • Relax, meet friends or just grab a cup of coffee

Remember- we are ready to help you!



For children of all ages we have books, jigsaw puzzles, “play and learn” language material, stories on CDs, music and films. For toddlers we have "Fantasirummet" where children can enjoy toys, picture books, movies and music.

Children and adults may also borrow games for PC, Playstation, Wii, Nintendo and Xbox from the library.


Borrow CDs, music DVD´s, books about music and musicians, and sheet music.



Stream movies from Filmstriben.dk or borrow from our extensive collection of BluRay and DVDs – both movies and TV series. Most of the Danish DVD´s have English sub-titles. The non-Danish DVD´s have Danish subtitles.



Through PressReader you can read today’s newspapers from more than 100 countries in 60 languages. If you live in Aalborg and are registered as a member, you have access to PressReader directly from home.

Learn to speak Danish

If you would like to learn to speak Danish, you can borrow language course materials at the library. There are courses with matching computer programmes and courses with listening excercises on CD. You can also borrow easy-readers in Danish. Some come with an audio book.


Read books in your own language

Aalborg libraries have a range of books in different languages including English, German, French, Arabic and many more.

Don´t hesitate to ask a librarian for help if you can´t find what you need. You can also search for and order materials both on the library's own database and on the nationwide database www.library.dk.


Using the library 24/7

You may search and reserve books, music, movies etc. on our databases directly from home. You can also check your library account and extend your loan period.



The library has licenses to a variety of databases in English, most of which you may access directly from your home PC. All databases are free of charge.
Some examples:
MasterFile Premier, Europa World Plus, Biography in Context and Encyclopædia Brittanica.
